Toronto Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial championship series since the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Trailing three runs to one, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh inning, guiding the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series triumph in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the upcoming championship.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, Toronto, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an incredible feeling."

The veteran has now slugged twenty-three October home runs, making him third on the list behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else anywhere that I want up in that spot other than Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the early in the series, are still the one club never to appear in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it's painful" following his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their performance in the campaign.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he continued.

Toronto secured the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in game one on this Friday.
