British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends her season and will keep trainer into the 2026 season.

Raducanu made it to the third stage in three of the four major tournaments during the season.

Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in her remaining competitions of the year due to a medical condition that has affected her over the past 10 days.

The 22-year-old had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to recover ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together in 2026.

She required blood pressure checks in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu due to the lower back problem that has been a concern on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

The player achieved 28 matches in the current season and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
